Shephard Finishes 11th in Regional
Jordan Shephard, an individual qualifier for the Region II Championship, finished in 11th place at Twin Rivers Golf Club in Waco April
24 and 25, 2008. Jordan shot 78 the first day and followed that up with a solid round of 74 the second day. His total of 152 was only
four shots out of qualifying for the State Tournament. The course played very difficult with the strong winds that blew both days of the
tournament. Congratulations on a great showing in Regionals.
The Men have several players returning next year including All-District
players Sameer Paul and Chandler Jennings and hopefully they can improve over this year's finish and make some waves in the 2009 State
Tournament.
Congratulations to all the Men on their great play through out the entire year!
Women Seventh in Regional
The Women's Varsity Golf Team finished in Seventh Place in the Region II Championship. The tournament was held April 22 and 23,
2008 at Cottonwood Creek in Waco. The course was longer than those played in the District tournament and proved very challenging
for the women. The team was led on day one by Michelle Hartenstein who shot a career low round of 77 that included a one under par
score of 35 on the back nine. Michelle shot 86 on day two to finish in a tie for 10th place individually. The team
was led on day two by Haley Plotkin who shot 82 (her best round at Cottonwood Creek which is one of her least favorite courses).
All of the women who played in the Regional Tournament will return next year and hopefully they can improve over this year's
finish and make it to the State Tournament.
Congratulations to all the Women on their great play through out the entire year!
Men Finish Third in District
The Men's Varsity Golf Team finished in Third Place after three days in the District 14-5A Championship. The men played
very well the last day of District at Bluebonnet Hills on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, but were out gunned by Georgetown and McNeil.
Georgetown won with a three day total of 934, McNeil was six shots behind at 940, Westwood I was at 943 for third and Westwood
II was fourth at 957. Nine players from Westwood shot in the 70's in the final round but they could not overcome the two teams
ahead of them in their quest for a berth in the Regionals in Waco.
The Men did place three individuals on the 14-5A All District Team. Jordan Shephard finished tied for third to earn All-District
Honors and he will also advance as an individual to Regionals at Twin Rivers Golf Club in Waco on April 24 and 25, 2008.
Sameer Paul finished tied for fifth place and Chandler Jennings tied for eighth to also earn All-District Honors. Congratulations
to these young men for making the All District Team.
Congratulations to all the Men on their solid and steady play through out the entire year!
All-District Players Sameer Paul, Chandler Jennings and Jordan Shephard
Women Finish Second in District
The Women's Varsity Golf Team finished in Second Place after three days in the District 14-5A Championship. They will advance
to Regionals April 22 & 23, 2008 at Cottonwood Creek in Waco. The final round was played on Monday, April 7, 2008 at
Delaware Springs Golf Course in Burnet. The Women started the day three shots ahead of second place Georgetown but saw that
lead evaporate despite solid play by all the Westwood women (all six players broke 90). The Team ended up four shots behind
Georgetown in second place. The Women were lead by Cheryl Feldmaier who shot 84 to finish in fourth place overall and earn
First Team All-Distirct honors. Michelle Hartenstein shot 86 to finish in fifth place overall and to also earn First Team
All-District Honors. The scoring was rounded out by Meredith Gilbert's 85, Haley Plotkin's and Aschley Conner's 88's and
Freshman Tanner Kudela's career low round of 87.
Congratulations to all the Women on their solid and steady play through all
three rounds of Disctrict and good luck at Regionals in Waco!

Men Pull Closer in Round Two of District
The Men's Varsity Golf Team shot 309 in day two of the District 14-5A Championship at Morris Williams Golf Course
on Thursday, April 3, 2008. The Team made up seven shots on round one leader McNeil but lost a shot to Georgetown who
is now tied with Mcneil for first place after two rounds. The Men's First team is two shots back and the Men's Second Team is in fourth
place only nine shots out of the lead. Team One was lead by Pierce Chilton's one over par 73 and Alex Floyd's 77. Team
Two was very impressive as all five players shot rounds in the seventies. Nathan Reep had the low round with 77 and Sameer
Paul followed up his first round 79 with a 78 and is in third place in the individual competition. The final round will
be next Tuesday at Bluebonnet Hills Golf Course and it looks like it will be quite a shootout with only nine shots
seperating the first four teams. Congratulations to all the Men on their solid and steady play and good luck next week.
Let's bring home a sweep of both the Men's and Women's District Titles next week!

a second round 83 and she is currently tied for third place at 165 in the individual race. The scoring for day two was completed
by Aschley Conner with 86 and Haley Plotkin with 88. The final round will be on Monday, April 7, 2008 at Delaware Springs

on Thursday March 27, 2008. Team 1 is currently in third place trailing McNeil by nine shots and Georgetown by one

one. The wind was constantly blowing about 25-30 miles per hour, the hole locations were difficult and the greens
were extremely hard and fast. Only four men broke 80 in the entire tournament field in the first round. Fortunately
Westwood had two of those players. Team 1 was led by Jordan Shephard's 79 and Team 2 was lead by Sameer Paul's 79.
Both are currently tied for 2nd place, one shot out of the overall lead. Congratulations to both players on their solid
play in difficult conditions. The second round will be held at Morris Williams next Thursday and the final round will
be at Bluebonnet Hills on Tuesday, April 8, 2008.
