Each year, the TABC (Texas Association of Basketball Coaches) honors a number of players by naming them to the TABC Academic All-State Team.

To be nominated for this honor, players

   1) Must be Graduating Seniors

   2) Must have earned their Varsity Letter

   3) Must have a 92 average (or higher) for 7 semesters

 

This year, four Westwood Warrior basketball players (Derek Nalodka, J.T. Dettman, Jake Pearcy, and Matt Holeman) qualify for this honor and have been nominated by Coach Hastings. 

Congratulations to Derek, J.T., Jake, and Matt for their diligence, persistence, and success: on and off the court.

A total of six Westwood Warrior basketball players were recognized as All-District by 16-5A coaches. Derek Nalodka and J.T. Dettman were named First Team All-District. Jake Pearcy and Michael Harris were named to the Second Team All-District squad. Matt Holeman and Nathan Robbins received Honorable Mention All-District acclaim. Dettman, Holeman, Nalodka and Pearcy have also been recognized as Academic All-District in past years.
 
Congratulations to these players and Coach Brad Hastings for bringing outstanding recognition to Westwood High School.
 

Although the season did not end like these Warriors expected it to end, these Seniors did accomplish a lot in their 4 years at Westwood.

- First winning varsity season (17-14) since 2004;
-68 total wins in 4 years on the floor were more than any other class at Westwood since 2004;
-5 wins in District 16-5A this year equaling the previous 5-years total combined.;
-Scored over 100 points in a game twice this year;

But most of all, they were fast paced, played hard nosed defense, and were exciting to watch.

Many thanks go out to these players and their parents for all of the sacrifices they have made to make Westwood Basketball something to be proud of. The players thank all of their fans for the fantastic support they were shown this year!

Congratulations to the JV team for their outstanding season.  They had a record of 10-2 in district play and finished the season in the top JV spot for district 16-5A.
