Feb 17: Boys’ Basketball Closes Season, Takes McNeil to Overtime

The Westwood boys’ basketball team closed down their season Tuesday, their final three games were indicative of a bumpy ride through the rough and tumble District 16 AAAAA schedule. The Warriors were beaten by McNeil, Stony Point and Leander to close out the schedule, but put a scare into the Mavericks in a game played at McNeil’s gym. The Mavericks held a slim lead at the half and carried that lead into the fourth quarter. But the Warriors came storming back to tie the game and send it into overtime, only to lose in the extra period by a final score of 69-63. Westwood had three players in double figure scoring. Jeff Reed led the way with 17, followed by Brian Jones with 12 and soph Derek Nalodka with 10.

The Warriors end their season with an overall record of 12-21, 2-12 in district. And the team says goodbye to six seniors who had great careers at Westwood: Dominic Desantis, Kyler Fry, Damonte Jackson, Azariah (AJ) Johnson, Brian Jones and Jeff Reed.
