COLLEGE STATION -- The Westwood High School volleyball program won a state championship in 1999. Since that time, the best playoff finish for Westwood has been as a regional semifinalist (final 16 teams) in 2003. In 2006, Westwood (19-18 overall, 8-6 in District) failed to make the playoffs for the first time since that 2003 team. This year, Westwood coach Kate Zora established a theme of "Rebuilding the Tradition". This construction project appears to be ahead of schedule."

Westwood Players in the News. Austin American Statesman journalist Rick Cantu questioned two Westwood Varsity players—Makenzie Smith and Sydney Jennette—about their life and volleyball in the October 25 edition of the Williamson County THISWEEK section of the newspaper.
