Warriors sweep Rangers in 3
Westwood finished up the first round of District play with a sweep of new 5A opponent the Vista Ridge Rangers. Westwood won game one 25-19, pulling away after multiple ties until midway through the game. Westwood won game 2 by a slim margin of 4 with a 25-21 showing and then, in game 3, Westwood unleashed a fury in game 3 and won 25-13, never looking back. Left: Defensive Specialist Jessie Mundfrom. Westwood completes the first round of District play with a 6-1 record, good for sole possession of second place behind undefeated Round Rock. This week marks the beginning of the second round of District play beginning with Stony Point (0-7) on Tuesday as final preparation for the much anticipated rematch with Round Rock at home Friday night. In the first round of District, this match went 5 games and was an absolute war between two of the best teams in Region II. Please plan to attend both of these matches this week. Be EARLY, and Be LOUD.

Westwood Varsity takes it 4-1 District record on the road to Cedar Park to face the 3-2 Timberwolves Tuesday evening at 6:30pm. This rivalry has continued for years and this year will be no exception as the Timberwolves are proving they belong in the top echelon of District 16-5A. Come early and support the Junior Varsity at 5:30pm as they also continue their winning ways bringing their own 4-1 record to the Timberwolves house. Left: Varsity setter Kaleigh Colson. Westwood Visits Stony Point Tigers Den and Leaves With 3-Game Sweep
Westwood visited the Stony Point Tigers den a night earlier than originally planned due to the eminent arrival of Hurricane Ike and came home with a 3 game sweep. Stony Point entered district play with a 12-13 record and a renewed energy to avenge their results of the last few years. Westwood won game 1, 25-11 behind a solid performance all around the court. Game 2 was a little closer as Stony Point was determined to make it a contest, however, Westwood won 25-16. Stony Point refused to give up on their home court and they mounted their strongest play of the evening, but it was not enough as Westwood finished the match with a 25-21 win in game 3 for the sweep, with virtually everyone contributing at some point in the evening.

Westwood Finishes Pre-District Season 22-7 With Win Over Regents
Westwood continued its winning ways with a 4 game win over a tough Regents team. Regents won a TAPPS state title two years ago and was a state finalist last year. They returned virtually the same team this year. Westwood won game one 25-22. In game two, Westwood was up 19-11 before Regents made a ferocious comeback to take the game 25-23. However, Westwood resolved to finish the match on a winning note, taking game three 25-18 and finishing up game four 26-24. Westwood Rolls On
Fresh off an 8th place finish in the Gold (out of 78 teams including 13 of the Top 20 and 9 of the Top 10) at the nationally renowned Nike Pearland Tournament, Westwood hosted Dripping Springs for a 3rd time this season. Beating a team 3 times in season is always a tough demand, but Westwood pulled it off with vigor as they beat the Tigers 25-13, 25-21, and 25-16. Virtually everyone contributed to the win.
